James Creighton has been serving as a Town Councilman since his election to serve in 2017 and has been the Deputy Supervisor since 2022 proudly serving with Dr. Becker on behalf of his favorite place in the world - the Town of Cortlandt.
Jim is a litigator and municipal attorney with Westchester County handling a wide variety of litigation, employment, public safety and civil rights matters for the County after serving as a professional liability attorney for more than 30 years handling complex litigation for professionals (including attorneys, accountants, brokers and other professionals), municipal officials, insurers and businesses.  He has been volunteering on various Town boards and committees since 1997 including the Town's Master Plan Committees, chairing the Parks Recreation and Conservation Advisory Board and as a member of the Planning Board.  Since Jim was elected to the Town Council in 2017, he has served as the liaison for sustainability issues and to the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as a director and as chair of the Government Action Committee.  Jim works hard to keep taxes low and provide first class services in a sustainable and efficient manner.  He is a Certified Town Official with the New York Association of Towns, as well as a scout leader, father of six children, a church leader and an advocate sustainability and for healthy lakes and waterways.
