The Oscawana Island Nature Preserve, off Cortlandt Street in Crugers, consists of over seventy-five acres.  Bought by Westchester County in the early 1970s, the Nature Preserve is now owned by the County in conjunction with the Town of Cortlandt.  Located on the Hudson River, Oscawana Island is home to many plants and animals that can be found in the local area.  With tidal marshlands and a newly grown forest, residents can explore hiking trails throughout the property.  The Oscawana Island Boat Launch was opened and dedicated by the Town Board on October 4, 2003, and offers residents a place to launch kayaks and canoes.
