Root Street
NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
Root Street, Hollowbrook Lane and Hollowbrook Courts
June 29, 2026
The Town is pleased to announce the start of the replacement of the water system in your neighborhood. This is a continuation of the work that was started last year that replaced the existing water main, services and hydrants along Root Street.
The second phase will begin on or about July 6th, starting at the intersection of Root Street and Hollowbrook Lane. Work will continue along Hollowbrook Lane, Hollowbrook Court N, S and W, and terminate at the intersection of Hollowbrook Lane and Hillview Place.
The Contractor performing the work is Morano Bros. Corp. Work will be inspected daily by the Town’s Department of Technical Services (DOTS).

The Contractor is permitted to work Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. A staging area will be setup near Hollowbrook Court in the same location as the past project. During the work day a temporary detour will be setup. Kindly follow the posted signs to avoid traveling through the project area. Local traffic will be allowed to pass to access driveways. We ask that residents be mindful of the work, limit trips and abide by all posted work zone traffic control, onsite flaggers and field personnel.
Daily the Contractor will be required to bring the trench up to grade and place temporary binder to limit loose stone, gravel and dust. There may be limited instances where a road plate is left overnight due to unforeseen conditions. After installation, the Contractor will mill and pave the entire work area, full width.

Due to the extent of the project we anticipate work to extend into early spring of 2027 with paving to follow. Be advised that the Contractor will be responsible for the trench and pavement conditions throughout the duration of work, with the Town monitoring daily.
We do not expect any interruption in your water service during installation. Once the entirety of the water main is installed it will be pressure tested and disinfected for use. Thereafter new services will be brought to each property line and connected to your existing water service behind the curb box shutoff. If you have any concerns regarding your water or if there is an issue past normal business hours, contact the Town’s 24-Hour emergency water number at 914-734-1026.
We ask that you also verify that there is a pressure reducing valve (PRV) in line with your water meter (Neptune). This valve is important as it reduces pressure from the public water main to your internal plumbing system. Valves are normally noted by a manufacturers tag indicating, max working pressure (250 psi) and the set pressure (< 80 psi). All valves, fittings etc… are required to be lead free, brass and copper, listed as NSF-61 approved. Fittings, valves and internal plumbing are the responsibility of the property owner. If you do not have a PRV or your water meter is not a Neptune, contact Engineering at 914-734-1060.
The Town thanks you for your continued cooperation during the duration of this project.
