I have declared a state of emergency for the Town of Cortlandt beginning at noon on Saturday and continuing throughout the storm. Thank you for your cooperation.

•  We have made our plans in preparation for this weekend’s snowstorm. We are expecting significant snow and very cold wind chills.

•  All of our crews are ready to plow our roads. This storm will be difficult because it will remain with us for two days. We ask for your patience and cooperation as our town crews and contractors, who assist us on smaller roads, clear our 170 miles of roads (688 town roads).

•  All of our employees in our DES/Highway division do their best to respond to your phone calls and/or e-mails. Please call our Highway Department at (914) 737-0075 or (914) 977-8676 with any roads that may need attention. Once again, thank you for understanding that this will be a very difficult storm with many issues. 

•  Please check our website at townofcortlandtny.gov and our Facebook page at Town of Cortlandt for updated messages.

•  We ask for your assistance in helping the town and our fire department in clearing out around fire hydrants near your home or business. Your assistance is appreciated.

•  Please do not shovel your driveway snow into the street and do not park any vehicles on the roads so that our crews can effectively plow.

•  The NY State D.O.T. is responsible for plowing state highways (Rte 6, 9, 9A, 202, Bear Mountain Parkway, part of Rte.129, etc.)

•  A shelter at our Westbrook Drive Community Center will be opened only if necessary due to power outages. Check our website/Facebook page for information.

DUE TO THE IMPENDING SNOWSTORM SANITATION SERVICES WILL BE CANCELLED FOR MONDAY JAN 26TH. MONDAYS GARBAGE WILL BE PICKED UP ON TUESDAY JAN 27TH, TUESDAYS GARBAGE WILL BE PICKED UP ON WEDNESDAY JAN 28TH, PAPER ON THURSDAY JAN 29TH, AND COMMINGLE RECYCLING ON FRIDAY JAN 30TH. PLEASE CALL TO ARRANGE FOR A CHRISTMAS TREE PICK-UP. ALL SANITATION SERVICES START AT 7AM.
