IMPORTANT NEWS about ENHANCED STAR!
There are no longer any NEW or RENEWAL applications for Enhanced STAR. If you are currently receiving the BASIC STAR as an exemption (not a STAR Check from NYS), if you are turning 65 within calendar year 2026, AND if your income qualifies you for the NYS income cap of $110,750 or less, NYS will automatically verify your income and place you into their ENHANCED STAR program. NYS WILL DETERMINE IF YOU QUALIFY. If you have any questions, you need to contact NYS at 518-457-2036. If you do qualify, NYS will notify our office and we will change your exemption from BASIC to ENHANCED STAR.
IMPORTANT NEWS about VETERANS with a 100% Disability Rating!
You may have heard in the news that the NYS Legislators are working on an exemption for Veterans with a 100% disability rating. All of the details regarding this exemption have not been finalized. Once they are and once NYS has created and posted the new exemption application, we will post the link here. Please note there are very specify requirement to qualify for this exemption. These will be detailed in the application once it is available from NYS.
IMPORTANT NEWS for VILLAGE OF CROTON PROPERTY OWNERS!
As you may be aware, the Village of Croton relinquished its Assessing Unit Status in 2025 and they will be using the Town’s 2025 Final Assessment Roll to calculate your Village Taxes. To view your current assessment and full market value, you can either search the 2025 Final Assessment Roll (link at top of this page), OR search for your parcel on the Town’s Property Data Search Portal (link also at the top of this page). On June 1, 2026, you should check your assessment again, If you disagree with the assessed full market value, then you could contest your assessment during the Town’s Grievance Period (June 1 to the 3rd Tuesday in June). Grievance Day for 2026 is Tuesday, June 16. Click here for more information on appealing your assessment.
If you had certain EXEMPTIONS with the VILLAGE and have never applied for those same EXEMPTIONS with the TOWN, you must apply with TOWN by no later than May 1, 2026, or you will not receive the exemption on the 2026 Assessment Roll. Click on the Exemptions link above for more information or contact our office (914-734-1040).
